Swimming is a popular activity enjoyed on the beaches of Brunswick County each year. For your safety, many beaches are staffed with lifeguards in the spring and summer. When you are swimming in the ocean, be careful of rip currents and sea creatures. The surf is usually quite moderate in the area, but you should always swim with a partner. Windsurfing is a popular water sport that is enjoyed in many coastal areas, and Brunswick County is no exception. In the Oak Island area, many windsurfers enjoy their sport in the ocean waters. Enjoy an Outdoor "Concerts on the Coast" Performance

The Concerts on the Coast is a summer concert series that take place in Southport, Holden Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. In Southport, the performances are held in Franklin Park on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. between June and September. In Holden Beach, the concerts are held at the Intracoastal Waterway Stage on Jordan Boulevard on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. between May and September. In Ocean Isle Beach, the concerts are held at the Museum of Coastal Carolina on Friday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. between May and September. Take an Adventure in the Green Swamp

Northwest of Supply, you will find a 150,000-acre preserve called the Green Swamp. Managed by the Nature Conservancy, this preserve is full of wildlife and vegetation and is home to a variety of wildlife, including red-cockaded woodpeckers, black bears and bobcats. Several carnivorous plant species are also found in the preserve, including the Venus Fly Trap. The Cape Fear Yacht Club is based in Southport and began in 1993 by area residents who appreciate the boating industry and wanted to have an organization with other members who shared their interests. Today, the Cape Fear Yacht Club is an active area organization that has various events each year. Regattas to support charity causes like their Leukemia Cup Regatta in May, summer sailing yacht racing and the annual "Blessing of the Fleet" ceremony are among some of the exciting things the Yacht Club does each year.
